Feinstein lets loose a semi-barbaric yawp of gun grabbery

Completely ignoring the fact that, despite recent headlines, violent crime is at a near 40 year low, Diane Feinstein is the first to throw her hat into the ring of "something bad happened, let's screw good people to balance the scales, look like we are doing something, and advance a pet agenda."  On her senate website she's published the outline of proposed gun control legislation she'd like to try to pass in the next session of congress. 

Along with her plan, shes posted supportive links to such venerable sources as an article in the Washington Post, as well as a letter to the editor of the American Journal of Public Health.  That settles it for me, my mind is changed.  Where do I turn my evil, evil firearms, especially my assault pistols???  Yes, the term "assault pistols" actually appears.  Three times, so you can tell they mean it.

Summary of 2013 legislation

Following is a summary of the 2013 legislation:

• Bans the sale, transfer, importation, or manufacturing of:
• 120 specifically-named firearms
• Certain other semiautomatic rifles, handguns, shotguns that can accept a detachable magazine and have one military characteristic
• Semiautomatic rifles and handguns with a fixed magazine that can accept more than 10 rounds
• Strengthens the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban and various state bans by:
• Moving from a 2-characteristic test to a 1-characteristic test
• Eliminating the easy-to-remove bayonet mounts and flash suppressors from the characteristics test
• Banning firearms with “thumbhole stocks” and “bullet buttons” to address attempts to “work around” prior bans
• Bans large-capacity ammunition feeding devices capable of accepting more than 10 rounds. 
• Protects legitimate hunters and the rights of existing gun owners by:
• Grandfathering weapons legally possessed on the date of enactment
• Exempting over 900 specifically-named weapons used for hunting or sporting purposes and
• Exempting antique, manually-operated, and permanently disabled weapons
• Requires that grandfathered weapons be registered under the National Firearms Act, to include:
• Background check of owner and any transferee;
• Type and serial number of the firearm;
• Positive identification, including photograph and fingerprint;
• Certification from local law enforcement of identity and that possession would not violate State or local law; and
• Dedicated funding for ATF to implement registration

1. Which 120 specific firearms?
2. What "certain other" firearms?  Is any pistol with a detachable mag about to be grabbed?
3. Do you really think that people don't see through this piece of shit as a grab at all semi-auto firearms in the civilian market?  Do you think people won't realize that Grandad's deer gun is next?
4. If there are approximately 310 million firearms in the US and we use a conservative estimate of 1/3 falling into a banned category...where do you think the budget for the additional ATF supervision to put owners through the NFA process will come from?
5. How long, if such a bill ever became law, do you think it would take for a lawsuit to be filed to make the federal government pick up the tab for putting a citizen through the NFA registration process?  I put the over/under at about 11 minutes.  Where will this money come from?
6. Boy that bullet button work around must have put some serious sand in your vagina if you're still upset about it 18 years later.  U mad???
